Two Bikes Wanted for VDO Couple

We’re looking for two bikes with upright riding positions to travel around the 3 Canyons area and easy dirt roads.

Looking to spend around $250-ish?

We’re also looking for any advice; we used to do quite a bit of technical mountain biking but now want comfortable road cruisers with gears for hills.

The Arrigoni’s at turtleandhawk at gmail dot com or 5 41 727 19 80.

FREE: New Double-Paned Window

We have a large double-paned window panel from Greer Millworks that apparently was the wrong size when the house was built. (Previous owner left it leaning up in the garage with a small sticky saying, “wrong size.”)
The glass has some sort of suncoat, also labelled as Low-E. Dimension is about 70” x 29.5”. Free to VDO resident or if you have a friend who is building something and could use it.

Seniors-Only Grocery Hours

All three major grocery stores in Sierra Vista are offering Seniors-Only Hours:

Walmart — Tue 0600-0700 hrs (60+)
Fry’s — Mon thru Thu 0600-0700 hrs (60+)
Safeway — Tue and Thu 0700-0900 hrs (65+)

If you’re up early, it’s a great way to shop higher stocking levels, thinner herds, and with fellow seniors who seem to be following better hygiene standards than the norm. It’s working for Diana and I!

Can’t get out? Need some help shopping?

If there is anyone here in VDO that can’t or shouldn’t go out … one of our kind neighbors, Jane Huff, has graciously volunteered to brave the shopping storm for you.

“If I go to town and could pick up something for anyone I would be honored to do so. I can leave the item on the door step if desired and you can pay me by mail or whenever all of this is over.”

Thank you Jane!

Lucy’s Warbler Nestbox Project

This spring, a handful of VDO residents are piloting a Lucy’s Warbler Nestbox Project in conjunction with Tucson Audubon Society. Resident Clark Bloom kindly built some boxes to the latest specs. Lucy’s Warblers are one of the few cavity-nesting warblers and with the loss of available nesting sites in mesquite bosques, they’re now listed as a Species of Conservation Concern. We’ll keep VDO neighbors updated as we work to provide nesting homes for these adorable warblers!

You can read about TAS’s project here:

When we moved in we asked some of the other folks here at VDO who they’d suggest for painting.

Montaño Painting’s name came back frequently and everyone’s recommendations were strong and unqualified.

Add us to the list!

Tom is the estimator, Manny and Amy own the business.
